Speed River Cleanup will be held at Royal City Park June 9th, 2007

For 27 years OPIRG-Guelph has coordinated the Annual Speed River Cleanup during environment week. Each year, this fun, city-wide event coordinates 200 plus community volunteers in an effort to remove visible waste from the Speed River’s waters and shoreline. This special event champions the spirit of community environmental stewardship and links daily decisions and actions to the health of local waterways.

Volunteers will gather on Saturday June 9th at 9am at Royal City Park.  Volunteers are to bring old clothes, shoes, rubber boots or hip waders, gloves, hat, sun protection, insect repellent, water and a mug (OPIRG will provide any of the above for those who don’t have them). Following the cleanup, all volunteers are invited to join them for a free BBQ at McCrae House (108 Water Street) with door prizes and entertainment for all ages.
