Karen Farbridge outspent Kate Quarrie by more than $20,000 in winning back the mayor’s chair in November. A financial statement filed by Farbridge says she spent a total of $86,951, while Quarrie’s filing says a total of $65,928 was spent by her re-election campaign for the Nov. 13 vote. It is going to go up even more in 2010!
A proposal to collect a fee for garbage removal has supporters in Guelph and might take flight in this city, say many including Guelph Mayor Karen Farbridge. Mayor Karen Farbridge says the proposal deserves consideration here, but would involve an extensive public consultation process. Will just have to wait and see what the public says won’t we?
Guelph could become the environmental capital of Canada if it seizes the opportunity it has with the former jail lands. The lands in the east end could have the potential of using all of the space to create a cluster of institutions, organizations and businesses dedicated to environmental research and education.
